How can it not be a real thing if it is happening?В This is my life and I wouldn't trade it for the world. They're in shock that we are supported by video games and YouTube, like it's not a real thing. I hear about it at work, I hear about it from friends and even family members. You can't possibly sit there and tell me, of all people, that my video games are a waste of time. I've met countless friends, made lasting relationships, and even found the love of my life. Playing these games and connecting with others is what I've come to love about my life. Video games are a waste of time.' Well to me, they aren't a waste of time. Video games! I've heard adults say to me and my friends my whole life, 'Video games aren't practical. But what else is there? There are people, real people sitting behind screens, united by a love of people and communication and technology and video games. I've made so many connections with people worlds away that I couldn't possibly ever say that the Internet is a bad place. I regularly have conversations with friends on Twitter. I make YouTube videos with my boyfriend and stream with him as much as we can. Now that I'm here, living with two members of the LP community in real life, meeting and befriending other LPers in real life, the online community that once was just an abstract concept has come together in a way I couldn't possibly describe.

I knew that relationships are powerful whether you're face to face or across the country, but a community full of gamers and fans, relating to one another on a whole new plane? That wasn't a real concept. When I first met Tyson, I never dreamed that an online community could be such a real place. Besides, what would I do in those videos? Play video games? That wasn't a thing. I knew just making YouTube videos wouldn't be enough. I only knew I wanted something beyond that, something that illustrated that I could impact the lives of others. I have a great respect for those who are, but that was never my goal. I never wanted to be a pencil-pushing 9 to 5 worker. I wanted to push that boundary of 'Hey, you can't do that as a living. Me? You could say I was much more of a dreamer. She knew from a very early age that she wanted to be a teacher.

I have mucho respect for those who do teach as a profession - my older sister is at the top of that list. Now, don't get me wrong, I love helping people, but I could never be a teacher.

I just knew I wanted to reach out and do something that mattered. I was never the person who knew exactly what they were good at and exactly what they wanted to study.

Sure, I was going to college, and sure, I had some vague idea about what I wanted to do, but that wasn't enough for me. When I was still living in Michigan and found the magic of YouTube, I had no idea what I wanted to be doing with my life. I now belong to a community that I never thought existed. I'm tremendously lucky that I've been blessed with so many fond 'life-changers.' They're constant reminders of what a wonderful life I've lived and many smiles to come. Days to look back on, fondly or distraught. Whether we win it all or lose everything, they're the days we know are a monumental period of life. 'Life-changers' are days that make us grateful. But they aren't even really choices, are they? They're just life. Life has a funny way of disguising 'life-changers' as these paths we get to choose and in the end, we just want our slice of happiness. It's delicate and intricate and devastating and wonderful. Our webs of past and present and what is to come. Me, I feel as though every decision is interconnected in a massive, tangled perfect web. Others try and avoid those days at all costs. The 'maybe.' Some people live for the 'life-changer' days. What if, from the very beginning, we made up the wrong answers? And how are we to ever know for sure? Maybe things just are how they are because it's supposed to be that way. Rules and guidelines were formed to combat authorities and solve questions practically. Bibles and other religious texts were written, and these stories had to have come from somewhere, wherever that may be. Cavemen did it through primitive painted images. Sure, man has created ideas and beliefs in order to try to explain why and what our purpose(s) is/are.

Maybe the scariest part of life is that there won't ever be answers to these questions. Do we decide when a day is going to be a 'life-changer,' or does it just happen? Does every little decision stack upon one another or are they just sparks that make up the grand firework display of our lives? The scariest part of life if the uncertainty of the every day, isn't it? The simple fact that we don't know what's going to happen at any given time.
